Kata – This is a traditional form of exercise where a number of movements are put together and is practised as though the child is fighting an invisible opponent. Kumite – This is the sparring aspect of karate, there are many forms of kumite which develops the child’s confidence and technique. Pad Work – This is where the child strikes pads with the techniques learnt. This enables the child to feel resistance and allows them to perfect their technique. Each lesson begins with warm up exercises consisting of a mix of stretching exercises which improves flexibility and cardio exercise which works the heart and other muscles.
